The Creative Sound Blaster internal MIDI/Joystick connector is a 2×8-pin (16-pin) internal header found on Audigy, Audigy 2, and Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound cards. It connects via a short ribbon cable to an optional rear-bracket accessory that exposes a standard 15-pin D-Sub game port, which doubles as a MIDI interface for connection to external MIDI devices. On earlier Sound Blaster Live! cards, the MIDI/Joystick port was provided directly on the rear bracket rather than through an internal header. The header carries the same joystick axis, button, and MIDI signal lines as the external D-Sub port, simply routed to the card’s internal connector.

Notes

The 16-pin header is keyed; the bracket accessory is optional and sold or bundled separately. On Sound Blaster Live! cards, the D-Sub port is mounted directly on the rear bracket with no equivalent internal header.
