The Creative internal analogue audio input connector is a 4-pin Molex header fitted to Creative Sound Blaster cards from the Live! era (late 1990s, EMU10K1 chip) through the Audigy 2 generation (CA0102 chip). It carries a line-level stereo analogue signal and appears on the card as one or more labelled connectors — CD_IN for CD-ROM audio, AUX_IN for an auxiliary source, and TAD for telephone/modem audio. The connector mates with a matching 4-pin plug on the internal audio cable supplied with optical drives or add-in peripherals.

Creative Sound Blaster cards of this period provide multiple 4-pin Molex headers of this type on the card edge, each labelled for its intended source (CD_IN, AUX_IN, TAD). All three carry the same electrical format — line-level stereo analogue — and share the same 4-pin pinout. The Sound Blaster 16 and related cards used two CD audio connector pin-order variants across different OEM drive manufacturers: Type 1 has Ground on pins 1 and 3 with Left on pin 2 and Right on pin 4; Type 2 has Left on pin 1, Ground on pins 2 and 3, and Right on pin 4. The table above reflects the Type 1 arrangement (GND–L–GND–R).
