Panasonic KX-TD1232 (DSHS) - PC

RS-232C serial cable wiring between the Panasonic KX-TD1232 DSHS unit 25-pin D-SUB connector and a PC 9-pin or 25-pin COM port for SMDR and programming.

The Panasonic KX-TD1232 is a digital hybrid PBX system from the 1990s. Its optional DSHS (Digital Super Hybrid System) expansion unit exposes a 25-pin D-SUB male RS-232C serial interface used for SMDR (Station Message Detail Recording) call-record output and system programming from a PC. The cable is a null-modem-style RS-232C connection; the DSHS unit acts as DCE. Panasonic specifies a shielded cable with a maximum length of 2 m (6.5 ft).

Signals

  • FG — Frame Ground (EIA-101/AA); connects chassis grounds between the two units.

Notes

  • The cable must be fully shielded; maximum permitted length is 2 m (6.5 ft) as specified by Panasonic.
  • The DSHS RS-232C port operates as DCE; the PC COM port operates as DTE.
  • The 25-pin-to-9-pin wiring shown crosses TXD/RXD and maps the RTS, CTS, DTR, and DSR handshake lines to the corresponding 9-pin PC COM port pins.
  • The interface is used for SMDR call-record logging and for system programming software running on the connected PC.
