The ADC Megabit Modem 310F and 320F are a matched pair of HiGain ADSL modems — the 310F serves as the ATU-C (central office) unit and the 320F as the ATU-R (remote/CPE) unit. Each modem provides an 8-pin RJ-45 RS-232C console port for local management, supporting autobaud detection from 2400 to 19,200 baud. The port uses only five of the eight available pins; the remainder are unused. Connection to a PC COM port is made via a grey RJ-45-to-RJ-45 patch cord plus a supplied RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter, yielding a standard DE-9 interface compatible with any terminal emulator set to 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit.

Notes
The modem-side connector is an 8-pin RJ-45 (8P8C) modular socket. The supplied cable is a grey RJ-45-to-RJ-45 patch cord; a separate RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter converts the modem end to a DE-9 plug for connection to a standard PC COM port. The RS-232C interface autobauds between 2400 and 19,200 baud; configure the terminal emulator to 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Pins 1, 7, and 8 on the RJ-45 are not connected. The 310F and 320F share the same console port pinout.
