8 PIN DIN (DIN45326) MALE to the Computer
21 PIN SCART MALE to the TV
The SNK Neo Geo AES (1990) outputs RGB video natively through its 8-pin DIN AV connector alongside composite video and mono audio. To connect to a SCART-equipped television and obtain a sharper RGB picture, SNK sold a dedicated 21-pin analogue RGB cable under part number FCG-9. The SCART (Euroconnector) standard, defined by CENELEC EN 50049-1, supports RGB analogue video at 0.7 Vpp into 75 Ω per channel; fast-blanking on SCART pin 16 must be driven high to switch the television into RGB mode. The AES AV port shares its physical form with the DIN45326 8-pin circular connector and carries composite sync (CSYNC) in addition to the RGB lines.

Signals
- Audio Out — mono audio output from the AES console
- Ground — signal ground
- Composite Video Out — CVBS composite video; also carries composite sync (CSYNC) for the RGB path on SCART pin 20
- Green — analogue green channel, 0.7 Vpp into 75 Ω
- Red — analogue red channel, 0.7 Vpp into 75 Ω
- Blue — analogue blue channel, 0.7 Vpp into 75 Ω
- Pin 4 — function unknown
Notes
The FCG-9 cable (or equivalent) is a passive adapter; no active components are required. SCART pin 16 (fast blanking) must be held at 1–3 V for the television to select RGB input over composite; this is typically achieved by wiring SCART pin 16 to the +5 V supply line through a resistor. The AES 8-pin DIN AV connector uses the same pinout as the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis Model 1 AV port, though the physical shell dimensions differ slightly between the two consoles, so cables are not always interchangeable mechanically.
