This cable connects the Commodore Amiga’s proprietary 23-pin DB23 video output port to the Commodore 1084 colour monitor, introduced in 1987. The Amiga DB23 carries analog RGB signals (Red, Green, Blue on pins 3–5), composite sync (CSYNC* on pin 10), and ground returns, enabling a direct analog RGB connection. The 1084 monitor accepts analog RGB via its 9-pin D-sub input, providing a sharp, flicker-free picture compared to composite video on compatible Amiga models including the A500, A2000, and A3000.

Notes

The Amiga side uses the 23-pin male DB23 video connector; the monitor side uses a 6-pin DIN male plug. The Amiga’s analog RGB outputs on DB23 pins 3, 4, and 5 are unbuffered. The 1084 monitor also offers an 8-pin DIN input for TTL-level digital RGBI from Commodore 8-bit computers, which uses different signal levels and is not compatible with this cable.
