The Acer Aspire iDEA 500/510 desktop uses a proprietary 14-pin power connector (component No. 19 on the system board) rather than a standard ATX 20-pin or 24-pin supply. The connector housing is a Molex 39-01-2140 — the same Mini-Fit Jr family used in ATX supplies — but the pin count and signal assignments differ from the ATX specification, making a standard ATX power supply physically incompatible. The original power supply unit is the Fortron FSP120-40GLS (120 W, Acer part number PY.12008.002), rated at +3.3 V/10 A, +5 V/8 A, +12 V/10 A, and +5 Vsb/2 A with a combined +3.3 V and +5 V maximum of 50 W. This proprietary connector was introduced in the late 1990s to early 2000s, during the Pentium II/III era, when several OEM manufacturers deviated from the Intel ATX Power Supply Design Guide.

Notes

  • The connector housing is a Molex 39-01-2140 (14-position Mini-Fit Jr), the same housing family as the ATX 20-pin and 24-pin connectors, but with only 14 positions. This makes it physically incompatible with standard ATX power supplies — only the purpose-built FSP120-40GLS or a suitably modified replacement may be used.
  • Connecting a standard ATX power supply to this board will result in incorrect voltages on signal pins and will immediately damage both the motherboard and the power supply.
  • The original PSU is the Fortron FSP120-40GLS (Acer part number PY.12008.002), rated 120 W. Output ratings: +3.3 V/10 A, +5 V/8 A, +12 V/10 A, +5 Vsb/2 A; combined +3.3 V and +5 V load must not exceed 50 W.

Signals

  • +3.3V — 3.3 V supply rail (orange wires; distributed across pins 1 and 8).
