Apple released two generations of PC Compatibility Card for Power Macintosh: the 1994 DOS Compatibility Card (PDS bus, 80486DX2/66 MHz, Power Macintosh 6100 only) and the 1995–1996 PCI PC Compatibility Card (PCI bus, Pentium processor, Power Macintosh 7200/7500/7600/8500/9500). The PCI card carries a high-density 26-pin D-sub video output port and a standard 15-pin D-sub joystick port. A bundled three-headed video loopback Y-cable connects the 26-pin port on the card to the Mac’s 15-pin video port and simultaneously to the monitor, routing both PC and Macintosh analogue RGB video signals through a single display connection. The arrangement allows Mac OS and MS-DOS or Windows environments to share one monitor without a KVM switch.
