ECU - Electronic Control Unit Connector.
The 1992–1994 Nissan Maxima (J30 chassis) is powered by the VE30DE, a 3.0 L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine managed by Nissan’s ECCS (Electronic Concentrated Control System). ECCS provides sequential multi-point fuel injection and electronic ignition timing control from a single Engine Control Module (ECM). The J30 Maxima was produced for the North American market and is covered by factory service manual SM4E-OJ30UO for the 1994 model year; earlier J30 variants follow the same platform and ECM architecture. The ECM connector exposes injector drive signals, sensor inputs, and power/ground circuits through a multi-pin header specific to the J30 platform.

Notes
The ECM uses a multi-pin header connector; only a subset of pins are documented here. The VE30DE is a naturally aspirated engine, so no boost or turbo-related signals are present. The ECM is accessible via Nissan’s CONSULT serial diagnostic interface. This page covers 1992–1994 J30 Maxima; the ECM layout is consistent across the J30 generation.
Signals
- Tachometer Signal — engine speed output from the ECM to the instrument cluster (pin 7)
- Mass Air Flow Sensor — analogue voltage from the MAF sensor indicating intake air mass
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor — analogue signal used by the ECM for fuel and ignition corrections
- O2 Sensor Signal (Right side) — exhaust oxygen sensor feedback from the right-bank sensor for closed-loop fuel trim
- Sensor Ground — common ground reference for analogue sensor signals
- Throttle Position Sensor — analogue voltage proportional to throttle plate angle
- Vehicle Speed Sensor — speed pulse signal used by the ECM for fuel cut and idle-up control
- Injector #1 / #2 / #3 / #4 / #5 / #6 — individual injector drive signals for sequential multi-point injection across all six cylinders of the VE30DE
